Known as The Gate, the new building - which houses IM Properties and International Motors, has been designed with wellbeing and sustainability in mind. Housing 250 people, IM Group’s vision of creating a future-proof workplace focusing on high-quality materials and cutting-edge design has been realised.

The impressive 60,000 square foot building is not only an impressive new landmark on the M42 in the Midlands, but every element of the building has been considered. In terms of drinking water, IM Properties had no hesitation in specifying Zip HydroTaps having experienced them in other projects.

The brief

The brief

We wanted to get rid of kettles and chiller stations as they take up unnecessary space,” comments IM Properties’ project director Majella Lynch. “It made perfect sense to have taps that could do both chilled and boiling water - they are so quick, no one has to wait for the kettle to boil, and the filtered chilled water is enjoyable and refreshing.”

The taps also align perfectly with the building’s wellbeing and sustainability goals. “We know how important it is to prioritise staff wellbeing so wanted to create a flexible working environment that was inspiring and enjoyable,” continues Majella. “We’ve included breakout areas and quiet booths as well as facilities such as a gym and recreation area. A key part of this was making sure the water we offered was filtered and chilled, thereby encouraging consumption.

The solution

The solution

With the new headquarters having a low carbon footprint, it was important to IM Properties that this theme carried through to each element. Nine Zip HydroTap Classics in matt black providing both filtered chilled and boiling water were installed throughout the building to provide a ‘one stop shop’ for the occupants’ drinking water needs.

“Having a mains-fed drinking water system was key as it means we can minimise single-use plastic bottle waste and encourage staff to refill their own bottles,” adds project delivery director Jason Jasper. Not only do the HydroTaps fit with the building’s objectives and ethos but the tap design itself was a key factor.

"We've been delighted with the HydroTaps, the staff enjoy using them and we haven't had any problems."
