The brief
Stephen Duncalf, supply chain manager for Apache North Sea, explains: “We have robust waste management and environmental strategy in place which is designed to engage our workforce and encourage the reduction of waste.
In considering how our operations impact the environment, we sought to reduce our single-use plastic waste, which was driven by the purchase of over 12,000 bottles of water in 2018."
The solution
The Zip HydroChill was identified as a leading product to support Apache’s reduction of plastic waste. A mains-fed drinking water dispenser with MicroPurity filtration, it removes the need for disposable, plastic water bottles, while delivering a pure taste.
Apache installed the HydroChill HC20 model, capable of dispensing 80 litres or 106 bottles (750ml)* of filtered chilled or sparkling water per hour.
"The Zip HydroChill has transformed water consumption across our office. Within two months of it being installed, the sale of bottled water and our subsequent single-use plastic waste decreased by 48%. The feedback from our workforce has been extremely positive and we expect this trend to continue."
